Traditional cleaning agents are loaded chemicals that are designed to make the job easier. But most of these toxic, polluting substances can cause devastating environmental pollution – and, for some, long-term health concerns. As an ecologically-friendly cleaning company, we only use 100% natural, non-toxic ingredients that produce the same spotless effect without harming our flora and fauna.

Green Clean is passionate about the environment and about protecting its flora and fauna for future generations. It is our mission to prevent toxic chemicals from being used in commercial domestic cleaning wherever possible. Our planet-first ethos has and will in no way affect the quality of our work – we understand that end results count.

Mark Taylor Green Clean

Mark Taylor, our founder, has had a lifelong fascination with and advocacy for the protection of the natural environment. The father-of-three is a qualified marine biologist who obtained a degree in Marine Biology from the University of Bangor, Wales. His academic work has included the study of chemical oceanography and the effects of pollutants – including those from vehicles – on the marine environment. Despite offers from two UK universities to complete a PhD, Mark headed to Bermuda where he could combine two of his greatest passions – the conservation of marine environments and travel. Having completed a course in marine ecotoxicology, he headed back to Britain where he volunteered as Project coordinator for the Nicaraguan Leatherback turtle initiative with the charity, Fauna and flora International. Mark later drew upon his academic success to launch Green Clean, an environmentally-friendly cleaning company in Cambridge, which remains one of the city’s most successful small businesses.

Our customers in Cambridge and its surroundings include small, medium and large businesses, accommodation providers, and homeowners who understand the value and expertise we bring. We’re trusted by:

The path to finding the right cleaner for you usually always begins with a question. We’d love to hear from you about your requirements – speaking on the telephone is always our preferred method of communication. So take a look through these commonly-asked questions – and our answers – and call or email us to find out how we can help you.

Q: Is eco-friendly cleaning more expensive than traditional methods?

A: Ethical, eco-friendly products are slightly more expensive than mass-produced, toxic ones. But thanks to the range of our suppliers, our customers pay only a few pence more per hour. Think of it like buying organic meat; a free-range, organic chicken, for example, will cost more than one raised in confinement. The difference in quality, however, is worth every penny.

Q: What do you charge?

Put simply, no! Our fees have and always will be competitive. Where we can, we’ll do our utmost to match non-environmentally friendly cleaning companies in Cambridge. Prices below include travel to locations within a five-mile radius of Cambridge city centre.

  • Commercial cleaning: call us (rates negotiable), including eco-friendly materials
  • Domestic cleaning: from £13.50/£14.50 per hour, excluding/including eco-friendly materials
  • Carpets (deep clean): from £30 per hour, including eco-friendly materials and equipment.
  • Oven cleaning £50-£100 depending on the oven’s state.

We also run popular promotions, which include our bestselling Green Spring Clean. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to find out when the next promotion is on. If you require a service that is not on the list above, call us on 01223 636820.

Q: Are eco-friendly cleaning materials inferior to mass-market, toxic ones?

A: Until the start of the noughties, the answer was yes. Until that time, people sought the cheapest provider on the market and thought little about the effects of their choice on the environment. That all changed at the start of the last decade when consumers – and, in particular, companies and corporations – began taking their own impact on the environment a little more seriously. Today, an eco-friendly cleaning agent is similar to mass-market versions in almost every way. Visit our Facebook page [LINK HERE] for some recent examples of our eco-friendly cleans in Cambridge.

Q: How do you monitor the results of your cleaners?

A: Since our formation in 2004, we’ve strived to provide impeccable, results-driven service to our customers. That necessarily includes employing trustworthy, reliable, CRB-checked staff – and providing them with ongoing training to ensure that the quality of their work lives up to our high standards. We listen to our customers and ask for feedback after every clean; this safeguards our clients – and ourselves – from the kind of shoddy work often seen by some less-discerning cleaning companies in Cambridge. It means that we can guarantee the results of our work – no matter how dirty your home or office.

Like all ethical businesses, we are transparent in our services, our fees, and our terms. We’ve included them here to provide our customers with extra peace of mind.

1. Private cleaning

Private cleaning is carried out with all due professional care.

2. Defects

Green Clean shall not be held responsible for damage caused by the quality of the article to be cleaned if the damage was not detected during a professional inspection (e.g. damage as a result of colours in carpets or rugs or furniture wood dyes not being fast or as a result of shrinkage caused by previous non-professional cleaning or as a result of hidden foreign bodies and other hidden defects). This shall also apply to articles that are unsuitable or only partially suitable for cleaning if these are not clearly labelled or Green Clean staff are unable to detect this in the course of their professional inspection.

3. Returning the item

If a clean is not carried out to the customers satisfaction on the day, after inspection, then Green Clean will send a cleaner back to make sure the customer is fully satisfied

4. Defects in cleaned items

In the event of defects being found as a result of the cleaning, customers must demonstrate that such defects and/or damage were caused by the cleaning company. (Receipts must be provided.) The company shall be notified of any obvious problems within two weeks of the end of the work carried out.

5. Limited liability

Green Clean shall be liable to the full and unlimited amount for the loss of items at the replacement cost. For damage caused during cleaning, the cleaner shall be liable only when gross negligence can be proved and then to the full and unlimited cost of replacement. Liability shall otherwise be limited to the price of cleaning.

The Green Clean Promise

The Green Clean Promise isn’t a set of shallow words. It is the backbone of our business and is guided by five defining principles:

  • To consistently deliver a high standard of commercial and domestic cleaning
  • To only use 100% natural, non-toxic products that don’t damage the environment
  • To provide a friendly, personal, efficient and reliable service to all
  • To employ fully vetted, trained and insured English-speaking cleaners
  • To add value to our commercial and domestic customers for a fair and competitive fee

Green Clean has been at the forefront of environmentally-friendly cleaning in Cambridge since 2004. We are committed to protecting the planet and use only ethical, eco-friendly products. Our expertise and environment-first ethos makes us the most trusted eco-friendly cleaners in Cambridge. Here’s what some of our happy customers have to say about our services:
